During your stay

Skiing, walking and cycling are just a few of the various activities that can be enjoyed from here with the Lecht and Cairngorm Ski centres are all easily reached from the property and the Glenlivet Mountain Bike Trails are just 15 minutes away (lockable garage is available on request for outdoor equipment).

The towns of Aberlour and Dufftown are both just a short drive away and offer a good choice of shops and restaurants. The Glenfiddich, Aberlour, Glenfarclas and Glenlivet distilleries, being just a few to mention, are also within a short drive and all have visitor centres for you to learn about our local nectar, Speyside whisky.

The stunning beaches of the Moray coast are easily reachable within the hour by car and if your luck is in, dolphins can be spotted at Spey Bay. Inverness, Aberdeen, Loch Ness and John O'Groats are all reachable for exploring, plus plenty of castles, historic buildings and gardens are nearby to wander around.

About the cottage

The cottage is equipped for a comfortable stay including a microwave, coffee maker and gas Rangemaster cooker and all the essentials are there for making an evening meal. There is a 2 seater recliner sofa and 2 soft armchairs for relaxing in an evening in front of the woodburner.

In the dining room there is a further futon sofa, which can be used for an extra 2 guests and the dining table extends to seat 6 if wished. A variety of games are there for you to use and books of general interest to browse through. There is a TV with FreeSat™ and a DVD player. In the spare room an airer is provided for hanging up any wet clothes after being out and about. Free Wi-Fi is available so you can make the most of your stay by seeing what is around and about.

Guest access

There is plenty of parking and a lockable garage will be made available on request for those all essential bikes that will be needed to try out the Glenlivet Trails. A keysafe is used for access and we request that guests put it in there when out and about to avoid losing the key. A torch is a requirement in the winter as it is dark except for the brilliant stars that can be seen.

The location

The cottage is very remote and although there is a cottage opposite, no one lives there full time, so peace and quiet is the norm.

Getting around

It is advisable to have a vehicle. Aberlour and Dufftown are both 15 minutes away, Elgin with the main supermarkets and shops is 30 minutes away. Aberdeen and Inverness airports are approx. an hour and a half drive away.

Important information

Please be aware that there is no mobile phone reception at the property, however there is a landline telephone we prefer you to use only for emergencies. Due to steep stairs, we suggest that the property is not suitable for the less mobile and children under the age of 6 years old. The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower and the cottage is fed by it's own water source and also has a septic tank. We request guests to please respect our environment during your stay.
